Ed Herrmann
I am San Diego native who was a pitcher at Crawford High School. In 1964, as an 18 year-old, I was drafted to be a catcher with the Milwaukee Braves My grandpa played with the Braves in the early 1900's so although other teams offered me contracts, they were my chosen team. Shortly thereafter, I signed with the Chicago White Sox and remained with them until 1974 when I was traded to play with the New York Yankees. I ended my career in 1978 after playing with the Los Angeles Angels the Houston Astros and the Montreal Expos. My highlight year was 1970 when I hit 19 home runs for the White Sox for a .283 batting average and 52 RBI's. I was also elected to play in the 1974 All-Star Game.
